Chislehurst Glebe 2-3 Phoenix Sports

Phoenix Sports struck late to spoil the party for Chislehurst Glebe in their first competitive outing on their new 3G pitch.

Phoenix took an early lead in the third minute when Jake Goodman’s header was turned in by Dominic Morgan-Griffiths. Chances followed at both ends, with Glebe’s Nathan Edwards saving well from Jerson Dos Santos, and Sam Freeman in the Phoenix goal denying Khavarn Williams and Montrell Deslandes.

Against the run of play Goodman doubled Phoenix’s lead on 73 minutes with a close-range header from a corner, but Glebe hit back quickly — Thibault Boud Abie smashing in a free kick before Jamie Philpot’s driven shot brought them level.

With momentum swinging their way, Glebe looked favourites to win it, but six minutes from time substitute Ben Morrison’s low cross was parried by Edwards, allowing Dos Santos to bundle home the winner.

Phoenix held firm to take their first three SCEFL Premier Division points, leaving Glebe’s celebrations firmly on hold.
