Squad commits to Deal for 21/22 Season




Deal Town have revealed that the vast majority of the squad from the past two seasons has been retained for the 2021/22 Campaign.

Via the Club website the Hoops revealed this news plus gave on overview on further events at the Charles Sports Ground;

“We are delighted that we have been able to retain the vast majority of our squad from the last two seasons. The following players have already signed and committed for the 2021/22 season:

“James Tonkin, Liam Hark, Alfie Foster, Kane Smith, Macca Murray, Billy Munday, Ben Chapman, Sam Wilson, Troy Howard, Ben Cardwell, Connor Coyne, Jack Paxman and Harry Alexander.

“We will be adding to this number over the weekend with a number of further signings from the players who have featured so far in pre-season. Lee Scott will unfortunately be out for the season due to needing an operation on his shoulder but will still be around the group. Kane Smith with continue to captain the club with the support of Macca Murray, Alfie Foster and Liam Hark. This gives us a really strong squad of players and with a further three weeks of pre-season still to go we expect to be adding further to ensure we have a competitive squad for the start of the season on July 31st.

“The club are also delighted to announce that both Max Niblett and Sam Gibson have signed for the club for the 2021/22 season having both impressed during recent pre-season friendlies.

“16-year-old Max, who lives in Deal, has featured in all of the friendlies so far and put in some impressive performance at both right back and in midfield. He has impressed with his energy, technical ability and desire.

“22-year-old defender Sam has joined the club are moving back into the area from University. He has featured at both left back and centre back and scored his first goal for the club in the 6-0 win at Hawkinge.

Steve King said “We have been impressed with both boys during pre-season and are delighted that they have signed for the season. They have fitted in well with the group and both should help us improve as a team this season”
