FIRST DIVISION
Tooting Bec 2-1 Welling Town
Canterbury City 2-2 Faversham Strike Force
FC Elmstead 0-1 Staplehurst Monarchs
Forest Hill Park 1-1 Greenways
Meridian VP 1-2 Bridon Ropes
Rochester United 4-2 Sheppey Sports
SC Thamesmead 1-2 Croydon
The race for the First Division title will go down to the final day – and following today’s results we still have 4 teams in the running to lift the trophy!
Draws for Faversham Strike Force and Forest Hill Park see them join Soul Tower Hamlets on 61 points while Croydon are just 2 points further back following their win at SC Thamesmead.
Things could have been better for Faversham, who led 2-0 early on before Cantebury made an impressive comeback. Joe Kay and Alex Willis put Strikeforce ahead before second half Connor Coyne double earned City a point.
Forest Hill Park increased their winless run in the league to 5 games and nearly lost against Greenways before a late own goal earned them a share of the spoils. Abdulai Turay had given the Greens a 28th minute lead.
Croydon are outsiders for the title, but remain with hope of lifting it, after their 2-1 win at SC Thamesmead. Trams goals from Cameron Macmillan and Kanan Fitton sandwiched a finish from Matthias Broomes for the hosts.
The most entertaining game of the day came at Rede Court Road, where Rochester United beat Sheppey Sports 4-2. Liam Wilkins, Mack Reilly, Jack Nelson and Luis Dos Santos were all on target for Rochester while Fred Obasa and Beau Cook-Bartholomew scored for a Sheppey side that are now confirmed to fill the final play-off spot.
Looking at the bottom end of the table, Welling Town’s 2-1 defeat at Tooting Bec means the ‘Boots, can no longer catch Greenways and will finish second from bottom of the regular table – therefore becoming liable for relegation alongside Meridian VP. Tooting’s goals came from Ethan Lampard and Myles Blenkinsop, with Casey Nolan-Samuels scoring for Welling.
Bridon Ropes came on top of the battle of the groundsharers with Meridian VP. It was the ‘hosts’ VP that took the lead through Ryan Atkinson but two second half efforts from Pat Ward swung the game Ropes way.
Staplehurst Monarchs won their mid-table battle with FC Elmstead 1-0 – and as a result leap over their hosts in the rankings. Phil Headley got the only goal at Lower Road.
