SCEFL Premier Division Play Offs

MONDAY 5th MAY

VCD Athletic 2-1 Fisher

VCD Athletic are our Premier Division Play Off winners and will be promoted to Step 4 following a 2-1 win against Fisher.

The Vickers have made a relatively quick return to the Isthmian League and made a quick start to this game when Lee Bird put them ahead from close range in just the 6th minute.

Fisher went into the break level though thanks to Flavio Jumo’s fine finish from long range.

The sun came out for the second half and Fisher started it well but the clear cut chances were at the other end.

On the hour mark an effort from the hosts hit the bar and shortly after the introduction of a controversially signed Dan Bradshaw ended up providing us with the the game’s talking point and the match-winner.

With time running out Bradshaw reacted quickest to a parried Lee Bird strike and smashed the ball home to send the home fans into delirium and to send the Vickers to the Division above.

Bradshaw was signed exactly for this moment and can now add the title of VCD Athletic legend to his long time status as Sheppey United Superstar.

Fisher played their part in a very even final and after the game their fans showed their appreciation of a great season from their team.

TUESDAY 29th APRIL

VCD Athletic 2-0 Punjab United

Whitstable Town 1-1 Fisher
(Fisher win 4-3 on pens)

Following tonight’s results our Premier Division Play-Off Final on Monday will be VCD Athletic v Fisher.

Two first half goals saw VCD Athletic through in their feisty eliminator against Punjab United.

Connor Dymond was involved in most of the games talking points, including the first of the evening when he gave VCD the lead with a delightful finish from distance. He then supplied the cross for Fenn to double the hosts lead as the deservedly went into the break 2-up.

Punjab dominated the second half but despite hitting the bar and having an effort cleared off the line, VCD held on for the win.

Fisher dramatically ended Whitstable Town’s hopes of an immediate return to the Isthmian League by beating them in a penalty shoot-out at the Belmont.

Captain Jake McIntyre looked to have set the Oystermen on their way, but Kesna Clarke came up with a late leveller as it finished 1-1 in normal time.

It was away goalkeeper Isaac Ogunseri who came up with the goods in the shootout, which finished 4-3 to Fisher who will now confidently make the trip to Crayford on Bank Holiday Monday.
