SC Thamesmead announce Kent Football Legend as Club Patron

SC Thamesmead have announced that Kent football stalwart Cyril Windiate has been appointed as a Club Patron.

Windiate is a legend within Kent Non-League circles, having Chaired the Kent County League for 35 years. The club say the appointment is a recognition of the impact he has had both on and off the pitch over the years.

In their announcement, the club said they were “proud to welcome and announce one of two new club patrons,” adding:
“Kent football legend Cyril Windiate has done so much for our club over the years, we wanted to honour the great man for all he’s done. Thank you, Cyril.”

A second message from the club continued:
“Honoured that Cyril accepted our offer of becoming one of our club patrons. What he did for our club was incredible and we are so proud to have him as our figurehead. Great to welcome Cyril to the Acre.”

Windiate’s appointment strengthens the club’s links with its history and community, and he is expected to play a symbolic and supportive role as Thamesmead continue their development in the SCEFL First Division.
