Following today’s First Division results we now know the teams that will finish in the top five places in the table – although we are yet to find out their exact order.
AFC Whyteleafe are on course for the title after their 1-0 win at FC Elmstead. Antone Douglas got the only goal of the game for Leafe, who are still awaiting the result of an FA hearing into an abandoned game they were winning last month. 3 points from that one would seal the title – as would avoiding defeat at home to Greenways next week.
Staplehurst Monarchs, Larkfield & New Hythe, Rochester United and Lewisham Borough are the likely Play Offs line-up.
Lewisham beat Staplehurst 2-1 today to seal their place in the top five. Khayrie Harris got the opener for Borough, Harley Gorse and Georgi Steeds won the game with a last minute penalty. Fjord Rogers scored a hat-trick in a 6-1 Rochester win over K Sports and Josh Jackson twice found the nest as Larkfield beat Canterbury City 3-0.
At the other end of the table SC Thamesmead are now safe from any chance of relegation after they won 4-1 at Greenways. Ben Lockett, Sean Adams x2 and Reece Antoine were the scorers for the Acre, who have completed an impressive turnaround since a change of management back in November.
Despite a 4-2 win today Meridian VP are still in danger, as are Forest Hill Park – who drew with Tooting Bec – and K Sports, who lost 6-1 at Rochester.
Ted Hodges and Sean Nicholls scored for Bridon Ropes in a 2-1 win at Croydon. The result end the Trams hopes of a play-off place and extends Ropes unbeaten run to 7 games.
