Saturday 16th March
On a HUGE day in the Premier Division, there were wins for Faversham Town, Fisher, Deal Town, VCD Athletic, Lydd Town, Punjab United and Snodland Town, while the top v bottom game finished all-square.
Welling Town put a big dent into Glebe’s title hopes by coming away from Foxbury with a share of the spoils. It could have been even better for the Boots, who led through Sam Bailey before Ali Fofanah scored from the spot in the last minute.
Corinthian failed to take advantage of Glebe’s slip, however, going down a 2-0 defeat away to Punjab United, with Steve Ratcliff and Paul Vines netting. With 5 wins on the spin Punjab are firmly in the hunt for a play-off place.
Deal Town closed the gap on the top two with a 2-1 win at Sutton Athletic. Aaron Millbank scored for Deal just before half-time but Daniel Emmanuel equalised soon after the re-start. Jack Penny got the 87th-minute match-winner from the spot keeping Deal’s promotion aims firmly in their own hands.
Jake McIntyre scored a last-minute winner for Faversham Town in the big game of the day at Bayliss Avenue. Goals from Billy Bennett and Billy Bingham were cancelled out by Erith Town’s James Dyer and Harry Taylor before McIntyre’s heroics at the death.
Lordswood led VCD Athletic at half-time but conceded four second-half goals, eventually going down 4-2 and it also finished by that scoreline as Fisher overcame Hollands & Blair, Thomas Ngegba grabbing a double for the Fish.
Elsewhere, Stansfeld equalised twice at Lydd Town but succumbed to a decisive third goal from Ryan Smith and Jack Nelson and Francis Babalola got Snodland Town’s goals as they won 2-0 at Rusthall. Lydd and Snodland will battle others in the race for the top five.
