FIRST DIVISION
AFC Greenwich Borough 5-0 Bridon Ropes
Croydon 0-1 SE Dons
FC Elmstead 1-4 Greenways
The festive gremlins may have had a brief kickabout with the Football Web Pages system, but once the dust settled and the mince pies were put down, three First Division wins stood loud and clear for AFC Greenwich Borough, SE Dons and Greenways.
SE Dons continued their relentless march with a hard-earned 1–0 win at Croydon, settled right at the death. It wasn’t pretty but it was priceless. That late winner stretches the Dons’ unbeaten run to 11 games and lifts them level on points with leaders Rochester United at the summit.
AFC Greenwich Borough made far lighter work of their afternoon, putting Bridon Ropes to the sword with a thumping 5–0 victory. Oghosa Williams set the tone early with a 10th-minute opener before Nathan Godziemski doubled the lead just before the break. The second half belonged to Williams, who completed a clinical hat-trick, with Elliott Carey adding the other to round off a dominant display. Borough stay third, just three points off the top two, and very much lurking.
Greenways signed off the year in style with an impressive 4–1 win away at play-off rivals FC Elmstead. Tom Webb opened the scoring midway through the first half, before a strong second-half showing saw Sholade Komolafe, Jack Clark and Bailey Catherick all find the net. It was a statement performance against a direct rival and a reminder that Greenways are not going away.
Festive football, late drama, big wins at the top end – the First Division served up plenty before the year bowed out in style.
