The year finished with a goalfest in the Premier Division as Rusthall, Faversham Town, Fisher, Holmesdale and VCD Athletic all picked up big wins.
The game of the day came at the Aquatherm Stadium, where Faversham Town came out best in a 7-goal thriller with Whitstable Town. The Oyster Boys raced into a 2-goal lead, with Liam Gillies and Josh Oliver both on target before Tashi-Jay Kwayie netted a hat-trick for the Lilywhites and Danny Parish grabbed another. Dean Grant set up a tense finish to the game with a late strike but it wasn’t enough and Faversham Town end the calendar year in second place.
VCD Athletic remain at the top of the table following their 4-1 home success against Erith & Belvedere. Tommy Whitnell had given the Deres an early lead before Ollie Freeman, Lee Bird and Nathaniel Olawole got among the goals for the league leaders.
Fisher go into 2025 in third place in the table after their 3-0 win over Glebe. All of the goals came in the second half, with Charles Yiadom-Konadu, Omotunmise Akanni and Jacob Katonia all on target.
Bearsted and Rusthall served up a real festive treat, with six goals coming in their encounter – three deep into injury time. Eniola Hassan had given the Bears a half-time lead before Charlie Clover and Robbie Bissett looked to have swung the game in the Rustics favour. Jason Banton then looked to have nicked a point for Bearsted with his 90+4th minute strike but Kalani Barton (90+5) and Charlie Clover (90+7) had other ideas.
A Malachi Hudson double earned Holmesdale a 2-1 win against Stansfeld. Chris Alhassan gave Stansfeld a 5th minute lead before Hudson performed his heroics in the second half.
Three big local derby games finished all-square – but each provided plenty of entertainment, and goals. Hollands & Blair scored twice late on to draw 3-3 with Lordswood, Kennington and Lydd Town finished 2-2 at the Lyndsey Field and Ryan Cheek’s late leveller earned a point for Snodland Town against Larkfield & New Hythe.
