In Memory of Clive Smith
Ahead of Bridon Ropes home game with Larkfield & New Hythe on Saturday Chairman Clive Smith was remembered and honoured for his service to his Club and Non League Football.
A wreath was laid at the centre spot of Ropes home ground at Meridian Sports Club and moment of reflection observed by all present.
Our thanks to Alan Coomes for taking these images.
We announced the news of Clive’s passing earlier this month with this post
All at the Southern Counties East Football League are saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Clive Smith
Clive was quite simply Mr Bridon Ropes
He was a great friend to many in the SCEFL and contributed heavily to the success of non-league football in this area
Our condolences go out to his family and all who knew him
Bridon Ropes have released this statement:
“Thank you to all who have made tributes, the minute silence and heartfelt condolences and messages. We hope that Theresa as well as Clive’s family are proud of the way that he is seen by you all, how he has impacted some of your lives and how he was received by most.
We at the club are all shocked and saddened by this and all of our thoughts are with his family at this time. His imprint on this club and impact on us will never be forgotten.
Also a thank you to Kent County and SCEFL Leagues for your support and understanding at this difficult time.
RIP Clive”
Many tributes have been added to our Social Media posts, some of which can be found on this thread.
