On Monday night Croydon kept up their busy pre-season schedule with a trip to Isthmian South East side Whyteleafe. Andrew Sesay and Ryan Gondoh scored in a 2-0 win for the hosts but it was a ‘much better’ performance from the Trams.

AFC Croydon got off to a flyer against Epsom & Ewell and never looked back, going on to pick up a 4-1 win and a first pre-season victory.

Aaron Jeffrey took charge of his SC Thamesmead side for the first time, with Corinthian the opponents on a hot evening in Longfield. A strong second half gave the Hoops a 4-1 win with Louie Clarke among the scorers for the hosts and Tony Hill getting the goal for the Acre.

Hollands & Blair continued their impressive pre-season campaign with a 2-2 draw at Cray Wanderers. Blair were 3-0 winners at Whyteleafe on Saturday and now after this positive result against a Step 3 side their fans may start to raise their hopes of another good season, when we finally get things under way for real.

Deal Town took on a Folkestone Invicta outfit that had just lost their main striker to a Football league Club. The Hoops stunned their higher level visitors with an early Luke Eldridge goal, but the class difference told in the end and Invicta came back to take a 2-1 win. (Highlights)

Erith & Belvedere sneaked in a friendly against East Grinstead Town that we didn’t know occurred until the full time result came in! Their opponents had been busy adding some big name recruits to their ranks in the few days prior so it was no surprise to see them win the game 3-0. Next-up for the Deres is the short trip to Phoenix Sports.

FC Elmstead collected their first pre-season win after a 3-1 victory over Chipstead. Jordan Samuel and Antonio Gonnella were among the goals for Elmstead who will next face Lopes Tavares at the weekend.

Fisher managed to broadcast a live stream of their game at home to Herne Bay. Around 50 of us tuned in to their coverage on Facebook and saw the the hosts perform well in a 2-0 defeat. Well done to the man behind the camera, it was great to see some live action at last!

Glebe welcomed Hythe Town to Foxbury in another game that fans would love to have attended. The Isthmian South East side came away as 2-1 winners but the highlight was the Glebe goal from Frankie Sawyer, another cracker from distance making it 2 in 2 from the new boy.

In an all-SCEFL game Welling Town took a 2-1 win over Greenways at Cobdown. All 3 goals came in the second half with Sam Bailey and Billy Murphy on target for the Boots while Ross Murphy scored for Greenways. (Highlights)

16 year-old Soul Kader netted a brace for Holmesdale in a 3-2 win over Kent County side Metrogas. Shameek Farrell got the other as he continued his own fine start to pre-season.

Wednesday night saw two SCEFL sides in action with both coming out on top.

Snodland Town came from 2-0 down to beat Farnborough OBG while Kennington overcame another Kent County side in Faversham Strike Force. A Trialist and Ryan Phipott with the goals for the ‘Ton’ at Rede Court Road.

Thursday night was goals night with 32 bagged from the 5 games taking place.

Welling Town were up against YouTube side Hashtag United and outclassed their fellow step 5 counterparts winning 5-2 after leading by 4 at the break. Richard Jimoh got the Boots off to a flyer by whipping home a free-kick in the opening minutes before Alex Nelson and a double from Ollie Bennett led us into the interval. Hashtag tried to save their blushes with a mini comeback but Ryan Golding sealed matters close to the end and all eyes now look towards the forthcoming video release from the Essex league Club.

It was a good night for Deal Town too as they swept past Kent County side New Romney 3-0. Sam Wilson, Bradley Baker and Ben Chapman were all on target for the Hoops.

Rochester United when themselves a tough challenge by hosting Isthmian South East side Sittingbourne at Rede Court Road. The visitors came away as 3-2 winners with Callum Peck and Harrison Hume getting the goals for the Spartans.

Elsewhere Lordswood lost 4-0 at home to Ramsgate and Lydd Town beat their own under 21’s side 8-3

The week closed out with 3 further games on Friday night and 2 of them were all SCEFL encounters.

SC Thamesmead picked up an impressive 3-1 win over Erith Town on the 3G at Bishop Justus. Tim Beckford, Chris Hubbard and Connor Watson all scored for the Acre while the Dockers face a quick turnaround to play Stansfeld on Saturday afternoon.

Gary Clarke was once again the match winner for Kennington as the First Division side edged past Tunbridge Wells at Homelands. Clarke’s header on the stroke of half time was the only goal of the game as the Ton continued their winning run through their pre-season campaign.

A brilliant second half from Chatham Town saw them put four past Faversham at the Bauvill Stadium. Bodkin, Robins, Pilbeam and Brown all scored for the Chats in a dominant display against their higher level opponents.
