New Manager named at Lydd Town
Lydd Town first team manager Liam Smith has decided to step down from his role.
Speaking via the Lydd Town Facebook page Liam said:
“It is with a heavy heavy heart that I have decided to resign from my position as Lydd Town First Team Manager. The club has been apart of my family for over 35 years and I haven’t come to this decision lightly. I want to thank the entirety of the club and every single player who has ever played for me and every fan who has given up their time up to watch my team. For now, I need a break from managing/coaching to re charge the batteries. From playing for the thirds and reserves, making my first team debut at 15, where I scored and got sent off, right the way through to coaching, to assistant manager to manager of the first team, it’s been one hell of a journey”
Liam’s replacement will be Mick Doyle who was Assistant Manager under Liam.
Doyle has moved quickly to add Justin Day to his management team.
Justin brings a wealth of experience as both a player and in the various roles he’s had with football clubs across the county. He has a good knowledge of the game and enjoyed a fairly respectable playing career which included a stint at Crowborough Athletic FC.
Mickey commented that his positive energy and enthusiasm both on the training ground and in the dressing room is infectious and hopes the current first team squad will be able to start feeding off his qualities as soon as they possibly can.
His first game in charge will be away at Sporting Club Thamesmead on the 7th December.
