Lewisham Boss Spence steps down

Lewisham Borough manager Owen Spence has announced his decision to leave the club, just one league game into the new season.

“I regrettably have to announce that I will be stepping back from management duties at Lewisham Borough,”  said Spence via his Twitter account.

“I plan on taking a short break away from football due to personal reasons and will return to the beautiful game in the near future.”

Borough began their First Division campaign with a 1-0 defeat at Lydd Town last Saturday and visit FC Elmstead this week.

A statement from Lewisham Borough, also on Twitter, said: “We would like to thank Owen for stabilising the club over the last couple of years.

“Whilst it is sad to see Owen move on, we look forward to seeing him in the near future.”
