Kent Invicta Football League
The History
Negotiations to form a new Step 6 division began in 2009 and were designed to make promotion and relegation between the Step 5 Kent League (now Southern Counties East Football League) and Kent County League (Step 7) easier as promotions had been infrequent while there had not been a relegation to the Kent County League for a number of seasons.
The League eventually began its life for the 2011/12 Season and lasted for 5 years before merging with the SCEFL and becoming its First Division.
The first ever Kent Invicta League fixture took place on Friday August 11 2011 when Erith & Dartford Town were beaten 4-0 by Phoenix Sports and the local derby attracted a crowd of 300 to Old Road.
Sports took command early on and were three up at the break thanks to goals from Dominic Websdale, Martin Driscoll and Adam Cuthbert while Alfie Harris netted number four on 57 minutes.
The next day saw the remainder of the weekend’s matches and the results were as follows –
Crockenhill 1 – 0 Sutton Athletic
Hollands & Blair 1 – 0 Ashford United
Lydd Town 1 – 3 Bridon Ropes
Meridian VP 5 – 0 Rusthall
