Kelly steps down from Sutton role

Sutton Athletic have begun the search for a new First Team manager after Daniel Kelly stepped down from the role.

“We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to his efforts and dedication since he became manager in June 2017, taking the club to its highest ever playing position in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division and the longest runs in both The FA Cup and FA Vase over the past six years,” said a club statement.

Kelly leaves for family reasons and can now give further focus to the footballing dreams of his daughter;

“I have left as manager Sutton Athletic. I have been at the club for 20+ yrs but my time must now be dedicated to my daughters footballing journey as she progresses. A place you never truly leave full of great people, I will now just become a supporter!”

The club are now taking applications for this position and interested parties should send CV’s to Guy Eldridge by email to guy.eldridge@btconnect.com.

The deadline for applications will be Sunday 14 January, with the interview process starting early next week.

Kelly’s last game in charge was their 2-1 home defeat to resurgent Kennington on Saturday while next for them comes the visit of Holmesdale to Lower Road on Wednesday 17 January.
