John Moules

The Southern Counties East Football League were devastated to hear today of the passing of our Vice Chair John Moules.

He has been ill for a number of months, but has remained very positive throughout, fighting hard to get better.

John will be very much missed by everyone in the league. He was still an active member of the Board of Directors of the League, as well as supporting Clubs and the league with Ground-grading, discipline and respect until a few weeks ago

Despite most of us knowing the John of now, he has had an illustrious career in refereeing reaching the National Panel as it was then, refereeing on the Football League, to both officiate and assess other match referees. He always had an anecdotal story to tell of his experiences with some of the professional players of the day.

In non-league and grassroots football he was a former CEO of the Conference League, now National League, with various other voluntary roles in the latter years.

He was a member of the Kent FA Council, serving on various committees, but most active as Chair of the Referee’s Committee, continuing to support referee development following his own retirement.

He was Vice Chair of the Kent County Football League for many years and became General Secretary of the Kent Invicta League when it formed in 2011.

During that time he played a key part in supporting the clubs in the newly formed league to both improve their facilities as well as improve match day experiences overall.

When the Invicta League and Southern Counties East Football League merged he was elected Vice Chair of the newly formed League, whilst retaining his responsibilities around ground grading and Discipline

Personally John has given me so much support over the past few years of our working together, football in this region has benefitted so much from his dedication and hard work and is poorer for his passing.

Rest in Peace John
