Holmesdale updates – 2022/23
Updates from Holmesdale FC ahead of the 2022/23 Premier Division season.
We are delighted to announce Luke Johnson as our newest member to the club & joins the First Team management Staff as Assistant Manager.
Manager Lee Roots & Luke have a fantastic footballing & personal history together, & Luke has achieved many accolade’s within football already during his own time in management at FOBG. Luke boasts an impressive CV & will add a total new dynamic & energy into the management staff & first team squad.

A thank you to all players whom have committed to the club for 2022/23 season.
Treasure Obi joins the club from Westside FC. Treasure is a fantastic player who has successfully transitioned quickly up the non league pyramid with great success.
Manager Lee Roots commented, “I’m delighted to have Treasure signed & on board with us this season. He possesses all of the traits needed in relation to how we like to set up for games within our play, & he will be an extremely valuable player & asset to our squad & club this season.”
James Ayetine joins the club from playing previously at Chatham Town, Sevenoaks Town & Chipstead FC. James has great previous playing history with the management staff prior. A powerhouse player with an incredible talent.
Manager Lee Roots commented, “We are extremely happy & excited to be working with James this season. Members of my staff have been tracking his playing progress for some time, & he offers a real natural hunger & total complete power within his game that is extremely impressive. Remember the name.”
Aidan Lopeman joins the club for a 2nd period after previously playing for Croydon FC & AFC Croydon. Aidan is a fantastic talent who has previously represented the club at youth, reserve & first team level.
Assistant Manager Luke Johnson commented, “I have thoroughly enjoyed working closely with Aidan in our pre season training & preparations. A brilliant player with an unlimited potential to show.”
Edward Sata joins the club from Corinthians FC. Edward boats great experience in a player for such a young age & has a very advanced level of game understanding & footballing IQ.
Manager Lee Roots commented, “We are over the moon to secure Edwards services at the club. He had some good interest from good clubs & some higher levels & I am delighted he has made the decision to commit & join the club. Edward will be a stand our performer & we are excited to see what he produces.”
Emilaino Lika joins the club from AFC Croydon. Emiliano is a exciting striker with truly superb striker movement & boasts good playing experience at this level.
Assistant John Coleman commented, “It’s really exciting & pleasing to have Emiliano at the club this season. He is a dream to work with & is an absolute handful to play against.”
Kalum Daini joins the club from successfully impressing through our player trails. Kalum is well know to the coaching staff & existing players, having played for & with many of them previously. Kalum possess an incredible talent with a natural hunger & desire, he is one of the most hard working players you will see.
Manager Lee Roots commented, “Kalum has been absolutely magnificent since he has come into our camp. He has the ability to undertake and deliver any instruction asked of him and is an absolute powerhouse of an attacker. I’m so happy to have Kalum signed & secured with us this season, he will have an incredible year with us with many many more to come.”
Kean Wood joins the club from Ebbsfleet United Scholars & Corinthian FC U23. Kean is a very sought after & liked player by all the clubs he represents, & he now successfully makes his step up into step 5 football full time.
Manager Lee Roots commented, “Kean is a superb player & excellent talent. He embodies every trait you would want in a player, he has the desire & also the ability needed to keep growing up the leagues. I am delighted to have Kean secured at the club & we look forward to working with him this season.”
Jordan-Boeteng Anderson joins the club from Epsom & Ewell FC. Jordan is well know to the staff from impressing when playing against us previously. Jordan is a extremely exciting & talented winger who boats excellent playing experience at this level.
Manager Lee Roots commented, “Jordan is a player I have been in contact with & aware off for some time. He offers extreme pace, power & great skill in his work, & he has been a high performer so far in all of our pre-season preparations. I’m delighted to have got Jordan over the line & secured his services to the club for the new upcoming season. “
Owen Edwards joins the club from successfully playing previously in the Essex Leagues. Owen has incredible quality in his game, great vision & a vast knowledge of the game. He hugely impressed the management staff with an outstanding MOM display when he was being watched by the gaffer when playing at Wycombe Wanderers back in May.
Manager Lee Roots commented, “Owen is an absolute tremendous signing for us. It is such a positive for us to secure a player of such high quality & experience into our squad. Owen is a real high level player that will now help us take the club & squad onto the next level. I am delighted to have secured Owen’s services & I’m excited to see him shine this season at Holmesdale.”
James Boughtflower joins the club for a 2nd period after previously playing for Phoenix Sports. James is a fantastic goalkeeper with a superb work ethic to match. He boats great experience for his age & is an excellent leader.
Goalkeeper Coach Adam Porter commented, “I am extremely pleased to secure the signature of James. He has had a previous playing spell at the club a few years back before then finishing his university work. He has excelled in our pre season camp & I have been delighted with James’s attitude and application. He has an all round natural ability that’s needed for a high level goalkeeper & i’m really happy to have him on board.”
SIJI AKINLUSI joins the club having played previously for Didcot Town FC. SIJI is an absolute powerhouse of a defender, a player who reads the game extremely well & boasts good playing experience. His power is beyond impressive & has great composure &
leadership under pressure situations.
Manager Lee Roots commented, “SIJI is a superb signing for us & a fantastic player with such a strong mindset. He has a great understanding of the game & I am over the moon to have him signed with us & really pleased to have his experience on board. Really looking forward to working with SIJI this season.”
We are delighted to announce that 5 players from last years u23s Development Squad have successfully signed for the First Team for the 22/23 season.
Congratulations to Caleb Bearman-Dyce, Taylan Ali-Osman, Darmando Lawrence, Jack Porter and Conor Phelps.
Lee Friend joins the from Stansfeld FC. Lee is a very experienced & well sought after striker & boats an extremely impressive CV of goal scoring stats at all of his clubs. A striker of real great quality with the ability to finish at high levels in & outside the box.
Assistant Manager Luke Johnson commented, “Lee and I have worked together for over a decade now in many capacity’s, a proven goal threat at this level and a great lad to have in the changing room. Lee will bring goals, goals and more goals to the side this season. Made up to be reunited with him & to get to work together in the SCEFL league & FA competitions.”
Ben Delaney joins the club for the first time, having previously played for current staff members prior. Ben is a natural athlete with great physique & has a great understanding of the game & has been very impressive since joining.
Manager Lee Roots commented, “Ben is a tremendous player & a great signing for us. He has a great ability to cover every blade of grass on a pitch & expresses a very high level of consistency & quality in his game. I am delighted to have him secured & very much look forward to working with Ben.”
Tom Jewers joins the club for a 2nd spell having played previously for Staines Town FC. Tom is a player who has great playing history with the manager, having worked at 2 clubs previously together. Tom reads the game tremendously well and is an absolute leader of a defender & is a player who boasts extremely impressive step 5 & step 5 playing experience.
Manager Lee Roots commented, “I am over the moon to get the opportunity to work with Tom again this season. We have had great success before together & it’s not only his talents, but also is his whole presence that is a huge signing for us. He brings a real high level dynamic into the squad & it’s great to work with & be able to bring Tom back home.”
