Friendly Round-Up – 8th July

Preparations for the new season really ramped up today with a long list of friendly fixtures taking place that involved SCEFL clubs.

There were plenty of goals around, with Erith Town and FC Elmstead sharing 10 at Bayliss Avenue and Welling Town hitting Kent County League AMG Ballerz for 6.

Deal Town earned an impressive-looking 3-3 scoreline at Margate, while Frankie Griffin and Max Lambert were both on target for Tunbridge Wells in an entertaining 4-4 draw at Crawley Down Gatwick.

Many of our sides came off second-best against Isthmian League opposition. Glebe went down 3-1 at home to Cray Valley, Lordswood lost 3-0 at Hythe Town and Sevenoaks Town beat Faversham Town. Herne Bay proved too tough a test for Canterbury City with Bay winning 5-0, which was the same result scoreline that Lewes won at Whitstable Town.

Ollie Wright got the only goal of the game as Stansfeld edged past Epsom & Ewell, to rack up their 4th win this summer and Edward Asiamah and Zac Ajose found the target as Lewisham Borough beat Merstham 2-1.

There were wins for Fisher against Basildon United and Meridian VP over Sporting Bengal, while it’s 2 wins from 2 pre-season games for K Sports, who saw off the Whitstable Town u23 side 3-1. Forest Hill Park were 4-0 victors at Rochester City and Malachi Hudson set Snodland Town on the way to a 2-0 win at Lingfield.

In all-SCEFL match-ups, Rusthall and Croydon played out a goalless draw, Larkfield & New Hythe edged past Kennington 1-0 and Sutton Athletic picked up a 2-0 win at Greenways.

Corinthian lost 3-1 at home to Crowborough Athletic and Lydd Town  drew 1-1 with Eastbourne United. It was 2-2 between Homesdale and East Grinstead Town, Wale Odedoyin got the first of the 4 second half goals that the teams shared.
