FA Vase Third Round – 19th December
Saturday 19th December
Third Round Proper
Chatham Town 0-1 Flackwell Heath
Deal Town P-P Binfield
Kennington 1-1 Sutton Common Rovers
(Sutton win 4-1 on pens)
Kennington’s record breaking run in the FA Vase is over after a penalty shoot-out loss at home to Sutton Common Rovers.
The visitors had not lost a game in the League or Vase all season and led at the break through Shawn Lyle.
Our SCEFL side upped the tempo in the second half and deservedly levelled late on thanks to Gary Lockyer’s 15th goal of the season.
With no extra time the match was to be decided by penalties and it was the Combined Counties leaders that came out on top winning the spot-kick count 4-1.
Despite defeat Kennington should be proud of their record breaking run in this competition and another superb performance here against top class opponents.

Despite dominating the game Chatham Town are out of the FA Vase after a narrow defeat at home to Flackwell Heath.
‘The Chats’ had plenty of chances in each half but failed to score for the first time this season.
The Hellenic League leaders scored early through Khalid Simmo and it was all they needed as they put on a strong defensive display to beat their second SCEFL opponents in a row.
Chatham finished with 10 men, after a late Jack Evans red card, and will now put full focus into gaining promotion, when we hopefully get going again next month.
Unfortunately the Deal Town v Binfield match has had to be postponed with the visitors reporting positive Covid tests within their camp.
The match will now take place on Sunday 27th December.
