Sunday 21st November

Stansfeld 2-1 Badshot Lea

3 out of the 5 SCEFL sides that played on Saturday are through to the third round of the FA Vase.

Glebe needed to hold their nerve in a penalty shoot-out to progress while Sheppey United and Tunbridge Wells were narrow winners in normal time.

Deal Town led before losing late on while Chatham Town exited the competition after losing on penalties.

Taurean Roberts were the star for Sheppey United as his hat-trick ensured a 3-2 victory for the Ites at Sheerwater FC.

Tunbridge Wells just needed the 1 goal to get past Waltham & Hersham but they also needed a strong performance from Aaron Lee-Wharton, with the Wells keeper saving a 70th minute penalty and making several other stops to claim a vital clean sheet.

Jamie Philpot was once again on target for Glebe, with his 59th minutes strike almost enough to put them through on its own. However, a 95th minute Hanworth Villa leveller meant the need for penalties but the Foxes progressed thanks to a flawless performance from the spot.

Two goals in the last 20 minutes gave Littlehampton Town a come-from-behind victory over Deal Town.

Ben Chapman had given our SCEFL side the lead on the hour mark but replies from Joe Benn and Dave Herbert saw the Southern Combination league leaders through.

Chatham Town are also out after they were beaten on a penalty shoot-out at Southall.

2-0 down the Chats fought back well and goals from Reece Butler and Dan Bradshaw took us to spot-kicks. From there the Combined Counties team held their nerve best and Chatham will not see their name entered into Monday’s third round draw.

On Sunday Stansfeld pulled off one of the results of the season, beating Badshot Lea 2-1 – a team that currently sit in second place in the Combined Counties Premier Division South, ahead of the likes of Beckenham Town and Jersey Bulls!

Rob Hughes gave Stansfeld the perfect start, netting in the opening minute and things got better for the hosts when Ollie Milton made it 2-0 10 minutes later.

Badshot Lea quickly pulled one back but with no further scoring it is Stansfeld that are in the hat on Monday thanks to another superb performance.
