Clapton Community FC – Summer Updates
Updates from Clapton CFC ahead of the 2024/25 season start.
“The Clapton CFC Men’s First Team will be playing in the Southern Counties East Football League Division One next season after our appeal against lateral movement was rejected.
Earlier this summer, a Football Association panel decided to move the team southwards from the Eastern Counties League Division One South we played in last season. Their aim was to try to balance out the numbers of teams across divisions at our Step 6 level with the SCEFL having run at 16 teams last season.
The FA’s Appeal Board heard our appeal remotely on Monday (June 10) for around 90 minutes. It has today confirmed they have rejected our appeal.
With this matter now resolved, we are looking forward to pre-season and the SCEFL season starting on Saturday, August 3 and meeting 15 new teams. We have already attended the SCEFL AGM earlier this week while fixtures are due to be released around mid-July.”
The Clapton CFC Men’s First Team can announce the pre-season schedule ahead of the new 2024/25 season.
The Men’s First Team will also take part in the three-way Cheshunt Community Cup on Saturday, July 20. That involves playing two games on the day against Isthmian Premier (Step 3) side Cheshunt and old Eastern Counties League rivals Harlow Town of our own Step 6.
The pre-season friendlies begin on Saturday, July 6 with a game away at Essex Alliance League Premier (Step 7) team Waltham Forest Borough, formerly known as Woodford East. The team will then play away at Essex Senior League (Step 5) side Woodford Town on Tuesday, July 9.
Due to reseeding at the Old Spotted Dog Ground, all of our friendlies are away from home except the final one, at home to fan-owned side Fisher FC of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier (Step 5) on Tuesday, July 23.
On July 13th Clapton CFC will play at CD Independiente De Vallacas.
