Change in the Dugout at Phoenix Sports
There will be a new face leading Phoenix Sports on Saturday after the club confirmed the departure of First-Team Manager Darren Anslow.
Anslow, who was appointed less than a year ago, has overseen a transitional spell at Mayplace Road East but his tenure came to an end following last weekend’s 4-2 defeat at home to Snodland Town. That result left Phoenix in 12th place in the Premier Division table.
Chairman Tony Crowder paid tribute to Anslow and his assistant Sam Clarke-Keen for their commitment and professionalism during their time in charge, adding that the decision to make a change was “not an easy one” but taken in the best interests of the club.
In the short term, defender Jake Goodman will step up to lead the side for Saturday’s home clash with Sporting Bengal United, while the search for a new permanent manager is already under way.
