27th December – First Division
Sutton Athletic end the year as leaders of the First Division following a 3-2 win over groundsharers FC Elmstead today.
The Landlords started the game well and took the lead when Arlie Desanges notched his 17th league goal of the season in the 14th minute.
FC Elmstead came back into the game, levelled through a Otis Blaize header and missed a great chance to take the lead just before the hour mark.
Sutton made them pay. Conor Evans gave them the lead which Callum Flynn then extended further with 10 minutes to play.
Elmstead were able to pull one back from a fine Dekklund Wallace free-kick but it was too little too late and the 3 points see Sutton hit the top.
In the battle for Ladywell Arena bragging rights honours finished even between Forest Hill Park and Lewisham Borough.
Forest took the lead thanks to Chris Alhassan but were soon down to 10 men giving a big task to hold on to that narrow lead for the final hour of the match.
They almost achieved it though only to be denied by a Bryan Zepo penalty at the death.
Forest Hill Park are in 18th place in the table with Lewisham positioned 9th.
