Two Men in Search of the Beautiful Game

Canterbury City v Biggleswade

FA Vase Quarter Final

Winning is great, wining in a quarter final is even better. It's Canterbury who march on to the semi finals, now just two games away from an afternoon under the arch. They battled, they scrapped, they scored a stunner, they did what was necessary on the day to secure the win, however it wasn't pretty and I'm sure they couldn't give a damn... more

'That'll Be The Day'

K Sports v Oakland Leopards

Pre-Season Friendly - 05/07/18

So it was that a visit from Oakland Leopards, from the west coast of America to K Sports, a club who themselves are mapping a path through the English pyramid, made for one of the more appetising fixtures on the pre-season list.... read more

Hollands & Blair 1-0 Fisher

SCEFL Premier Division

The Non League Chronicles

We arrived very early and went off for lunch before entering the ground. 7 quid gets you in and that includes the programme.

The ground itself is fairly typical Kent league fair one seated area with dugouts opposite.

The pitch sloped quite a lot from right to left and to be fair the pitch was bone dry with almost all of its surface looking straw like... more

'Crows Unofficial'

Sheppey United v Crowborough Athletic

SCEFL Premier Division - 04/08/18

So this is new – its been a while since anyone put a handful past us without reply, but we all knew that it would take a little time for the brand new Crowborough Athletic to bed down and find its footballing feet. In truth, Sheppey were much better on the day, although five is a little flattering based on the actual performance and whoever scored first in the sweltering heat would always be in the ascendency because chasing a game when you’re losing is almost impossible when melting is a major concern.... more

'The Wycombe Wanderer'

Erith Town v Aveley

Pre Season Friendly

The second half saw plenty of endeavour but not the greatest end product. The visitors eventually took the lead on 63 minutes, a long ball finding Antonio Martin who finished confidently past the home keeper. It was Aveley who continued to have the better of the game, shaving the bar from a long-range effort and a trialist smashing a free kick against the bar... Read More

Football: Wherever it may be - Laurence's Football Travels

Laurence Reade takes a trip into the SCEFL Premier Division to take in Corinthian v Sheppey United....

Scratch the surface of Corinthian and you find founder Ron Billings. Even though he died in 1991 a brief flick through the programme shows a number of his family still in involved with the club he founded in 1972. You could say he built the club in his own back garden..... read more

'All In My Mind'

SC Thamesmead v Kent Football United

SCEFL First Division 17/09/18

Sporting Club Thamesmead is the current name of the old Seven Acre & Sidcup FC, the name change following their move to the new Sporting Club Thamesmead sports complex in 2016.

The visitors Kent Football United, hail from the Dartford area and play at the Glentworth Sports Club (a ground i need to get round to visiting soon!) and began the game struggling near the foot of the table, with their hosts in mid table following an up and down start to the season results wise.... more
